Mark is Ireland’s first Professor of Digital Learning and Director of the National Institute for Digital Learning (NIDL) at Dublin City University (DCU). He has more than 25 years experience of working in higher education and has published extensively in the area of Blended, On-line and Digital (BOLD) education. Over the last decade or so he has served in a number of senior leadership roles and is currently an Executive Committee member of the European Distance and E-learning Network (EDEN) and member of the Supervisory Board of the European Association of Distance Teaching Universities (EADTU). Mark also chairs the Teaching and Learning Committee of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU) and serves on the Board of the Irish National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. Before moving to Ireland at the start of 2014 he was Director of the National Centre for Teaching and Learning at Massey University, and President of the New Zealand Association for Open, Flexible and Distance Learning (DEANZ). Mark is aan EDEN Fellow and recipient of a National Award for Sustained Excellence in Tertiary Teaching and remains a member of the New Zealand Academy of Tertiary Teaching Excellence.
