Born in Karaman in 1962. Married, has 2 children.
• Graduated from Faculty of Mining Engineering, İstanbul Technical University,
• M. Phil. in Mine and Operational Research from Leeds University, the UK in 1986,
• MA in Economy from Delaware University, the USA in 1995.
1987-1989: Engineer at the Operational Research Department of ETİBANK.
1989-2007: Served at the Prime Ministry State Planning Organization at various capacities as:
1989-1996: Expert in various Directorate Generals,
1996-2002: Head of the Department of Priority Regions in Development,
2002-2007: Deputy Undersecretary,
2003-2007: Chairman of the Board of Directors of EU Education and Youth Center, and Member of Committee on Monitoring and Orientation of EU Negotiations.
2007: Elected as the Karaman Member of Parliament.
2007-2011: Adviser to the Prime Minister, H.E. Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN.
Co-Chairman of Turkey-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee.
Head of Turkey-Hungary Friendship Group.
Representative of Turkey to the South-east Europe Cooperation Process.
2011: Elected as the Karaman Member of Parliament, 2nd term.
2011- 26 December 2013: Head of the Planning and Budget Commission in Turkish Grand National Assembly. Representative of Turkey to the South-east Europe Cooperation Process.
26/12/2013 – 7/3/2015: Served as the Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications in the 62nd Government of Turkey.
June 2015: Elected as the Antalya Member of Parliament.
November 2015: Elected as the Mersin Member of Parliament.
November 24 th 2015: Appointed as Deputy Prime Minister in the 64th Government of Turkey.
May 24 th 2016: Appointed as Minister of Development in the 65th Government of Turkey.
